Link Love :: Palm Sunday Edition

Watch your thoughts!  It's like the book The Secret....with some homework. I love garden fresh herbs.  Garden fresh herbs in alcohol....yes please!

My Body Likes....what an interesting concept....it definitely got me thinking about what my body likes.

I love local legends!  New Zealand has so much in common with Hawaii.  Pania of the Reef was a new one for me but she definitely caught my fancy.  Slightly mermaid-ish, no?

I'm not a player, I just blog a lot.  Amen sister.  I need one of these.

One of my favorite sites posted 'Currently Crushing: a man's perspective'.  I read through it and thought 'Maybe a gay man'!  I think you'll all agree that these items are hardly 'manly'.  Just sayin'......

Terrariums showed up twice this week....I love terrariums and even had one as a kid that thrived.  Check out some twists on the classic terrarium here and here.

I read this and cried out 'Hallelujah'!  I'm a huge supporter of the public school system.  I plan on sending my kids to one and wish more people shared my belief that public schools prepare children for life and quit throwing money towards a system which promotes a sense of entitlement.

This is my brain on fear.  I've been struggling with this myself as of late....I do plan on blogging about my own brain on fear ;)

Ahhh Facebook.  Such a love hate relationship!  I think this is a good set of Facebook guidelines.  I'm finally starting to grow a Facebook backbone.  I will un-friend you if necessary!  Take that!

TOTALLY.

I saved the best (or at least what were my ultimate favorites this week) for last:

Jay-Z interviewed Gwenyth Paltrow.  Several things....first of all....read the interview here....she's mad cool.  Secondly, how wicked is his site Life + Times?!  Lastly, who knew Gwenyth Paltrow had her own site?  Check out GOOP....like I said....mad cool.

Pike Place Market

I've always found Pike Place Market in Seattle to be magical.  I make sure that I at least get a glimpse of it when I'm in the Pacific Northwest.  I grew up summering in British Columbia and so I was well acquainted with a summer time market place.  When I graduated from college I spent several months living with family in West Seattle...I was floundering....job hunting wasn't nearly as easy as I thought it was and they were kind enough to keep me warm :)  Being in Seattle in the fall and winter introduced me to a whole new side of the market.  Beneath the street side vendors is a network of curio shops, used bookstores and quaint places to stop for a nibble.  This was the first time I had ever seen the market in the spring!  Oh My!  The Flowers!  I had no idea!  That being said, I was absolutely unprepared for the throngs of people....it was majorly claustrophobic.  It was a gorgeously sunny day - apparently Seattle hadn't seen one of those in awhile - and the sunshine made everyone want to buy flowers (or fish, or veggies)!  This was also the first time I had ever taken a camera to the market - Big Bertha (my trusty Nikon D90) did right by me.....I just snapped away!

Airport Madness

Isn't it amazing how when you are at the airport outlets become a precious commodity? How buying a snack means spending twenty bucks and Starbucks adds a buck to the price of your latte? How your body temperature fluctuates between boiling hot and freezing cold? How the carry-on that seemed so well packed and pared down now feels like the contents are shifting with every step and may cause permanent damage to your neck, shoulders and back? How airlines employees get subsequently ruder, less efficient and downright obstinate with every flight you take? I remember how much I looked forward to flying as a kid....I flew to Canada every summer. I was treated like royalty in airports as a solo youth flyer!!! I used to plan my outfit weeks ahead of time. Stretchy pants, sequined shirts, metallic LA Look high tops - throw a side pony tail in there for good measure!!!

Now I grit my teeth and bite the bullet....it sucks when you have to buy your own ticket!! Airline employees look at me like a bug because I'm not an elite member. Someday elite status will be mine...oh yes, it will be mine!! Today's outfit consists of jeans, a shirt and uggs. I think if I had metallic LA Look high tops on the one hour spent at the ticket counter sorting out my flight mix up would have been far less painful.

Attitude is everything!!! The nicer you are the harder it is for 'them' to be mean to you :)

(I just typed this whole thing on my iPhone....I'm not proofreading!)
